Wayang, a display typeface project, draws inspiration from traditional shadow puppets that originated from Indonesia. These shadow puppets used light to cast a form onto the screen, and the idea of light and shadow has always intrigued me. The typeface created mimics the form of the shadow puppets, from allowing light to pass through the letterforms, to the intricate details that are handcrafted on each puppet.
